My recipe for Peanut Butter Oatmeal (because I know you want it).
What you need:
- 1/2 cup rolled oats (this is next to the oatmeal and grits section of your supermarket, in a cylindrical container. Unless you go to a wholesale store, then it is in a box..because I told you to buy this in bulk).
- about 3/4 of a cup water. More in you want thinner oatmeal, less if you want thicker.
- a spoonful of peanut butter. Like a heaping spoonful. More or less to your taste.
- some cinnamon. However much you want is up to you, this step is optional.
- a dog to let outside and feed.
- or a fancy jig.
Follow these steps:
1. Put rolled oats into a bowl. You may be tempted to put more in, but don’t. This stuff expands like whoa!
2. Put that water in there to show the oats who’s boss.
3. Then put it in the microwave for three minutes. Them oats well definitely know who is boss.
4. Find that dog and let him outside. Fill his bowls up with food in water. You’ll hear him claw at the door, and so you let him back in. By this time your oatmeal should be done, so do a little jig in front of the microwave to let the oatmeal know you are excited to devour it.
5. Let the oatmeal cool down for a minuscule amount of time, unless you like the feeling of hot pain on your fingers. Then bring the oatmeal to the counter.
6. Take the heaping spoonful of peanut butter and plop it into your oatmeal. Stir that oatmeal until it melts into your oats.
7. If it’s not too hot, go ahead and taste it. If you think it needs something, add some cinnamon. I have thought of putting honey in, but I haven’t tried it yet.
8. Bring it to the table and inhale. Whisper sweet nothing’s to let it know you love it.
And there you have it. I have also thrown frozen strawberries in before putting it in the microwave and I get a kind of peanut butter and jelly oatmeal. Sometimes I put sliced banana in at the same time as the peanut butter. Like I said, the possibilities are endless.
